Blogging for this date will be split into two sections. The end of our trip to Harlaxton Manor will be here, and the beginning of our trip to Scotland will be cataloged in another section focusing on Scotland. Since our train from Grantham to Edinburgh was at 10:30, this blog post is going to be pretty short.
This way, people only interested in the Harlaxton part of trip, can easily find what they need.
I had one thing I wanted to do during our last morning at Harlaxton Manor: get a picture in front of the main gates. I have a thing for wrought iron, and I love gates and fencing made of it. As you can imagine at a manor of this size, there are impressive gates!

When we went to take the pictures above, we didn’t realize that the wedding photographer was there. He laughed at my excitement and said that he hoped he wedding party had the kind of energy I had. 🙂
I just really loved the manor. It wasn’t as intimidating as I thought despite the grandeur. The people working there were so welcoming, and I can see how people coming to visit would feel “at home” pretty quickly.
We also spent some time exploring other parts of the Carriage House to better understand life for students living there. It was funny to us, too, because we had been so focused on finding the laundry facilities in the manor on the first day without realizing that there is laundry facilities in the Carriage House. Something that is much more convenient for students living here.

There is also a really nice and cozy student lounge.

We also went outside to see more around the carriage house and to finally sit in the bench that is next to it. I can imagine just sitting out there with a book or listening to music on my headphones just watching the view.

We had nothing left to do but drop off our keys and wait for the taxi to take us to Grantham station.
I really hope we begin to have more students take the opportunity to study here through our partnership with the college.
